Have a question?
How do I get started?
Just drop me a message on WhatsApp or email, and we’ll set up a no-obligation call. We’ll talk about what you need, and you can see if I feel like the right therapist for you. If it feels like a good fit, we’ll book your first session. Simple as that!
How do I know if I need therapy?
If you’re wondering about therapy, it might be worth exploring. You don’t have to be in crisis – whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just not yourself, therapy can help.
Not sure? Let’s chat. I offer a free, no-obligation consultation to see if it’s the right fit for you.
I don’t like talking about feelings – will therapy still work for me?
Absolutely! Therapy isn’t just about emotions – it can be practical, solution-focused, and tailored to your style. If you prefer structured approaches or specific tools, we can focus on that.
What can I expect from the first session?
It’s a relaxed conversation where we explore what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’d like to get out of it, and how I can support you. There’s no pressure to open up more than you’re comfortable with – it’s just a space to see if we’re a good fit.
How do I know which type of therapy is right for me?
You don’t need to! That’s what I’m here for. In our first chat, we’ll talk through your needs, and I’ll suggest an approach that works best for you. If you have a preference, we can go with that too. Therapy is always tailored to you.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes! You can choose what feels best for you – in-person, video, phone, or even text-based therapy. It’s all about making therapy work for your life.
Can I switch to a different type of therapy later?
Of course! Therapy is flexible. If we start with one approach and you feel like something else might work better, we can adjust as we go.
How much does therapy cost?
I believe therapy should be affordable and accessible, so I keep my fees reasonable and offer some discounted slots. Payments can be made via bank transfer.
Do you offer sliding scale fees?
Yes, I have a limited number of discounted slots for those who need them. If finances are a concern, just let me know – we’ll find a way to make it work.
Can I pay per session, or do I need to book a package?
You can pay per session – there’s no commitment beyond what feels right for you.
How long does therapy take?
That depends on what you need. Some people come for a few sessions, while others prefer longer-term support. We’ll check in as we go to make sure you’re getting what you need from the process.
What’s your cancellation policy?
If you need to reschedule or cancel, please give at least 24 hours’ notice so I can offer the slot to someone else. Late cancellations may be charged.
What is SST, and how does it work?
SST (Single Session Therapy) is for those who don’t necessarily need long-term therapy but could use a focused, one-off session to gain clarity, work through a challenge, or get practical coping strategies. It’s not a commitment – just one powerful session tailored to what you need. If you decide you want more, we can always discuss ongoing support.
What if I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t work?
That’s okay too! Every therapist is different, and so is every experience. I work in a way that suits you, and we can take it at your pace.
What if I don’t feel like we’re the right fit?
That’s totally okay! Finding the right therapist is important. Our initial chat is completely obligation-free, so you can decide if it feels right before committing.
Even if you decide after a few sessions that it’s not the right fit, that’s perfectly fine — just let me know. No pressure to continue.
What if I don’t know what to talk about?
That’s okay too! We’ll explore what’s on your mind, and I’ll guide the conversation in a way that feels natural and helpful.
Is therapy confidential?
Absolutely. What you share stays between us, except in rare cases where I have a legal or ethical duty to act (e.g., if someone is at serious risk of harm). But we’ll go over this in our first chat so everything is clear.
Do you work with children and teens?
Yes! I offer child and adolescent counselling, tailored to their age and needs. Feel free to reach out if you want to know more about how it works.
Do you offer therapy for couples or families?
Yes! I work with individuals, couples, and families. If you’re looking for relationship or family support, we can discuss what would be most helpful for your situation.
Do you offer therapy for specific issues like anxiety, trauma, or relationships?
Yes, I work with a wide range of concerns, from anxiety and depression to trauma, relationships, and self-esteem. If you’re unsure if therapy is right for you, just drop me a message, and we can chat.
Do I need a referral to start therapy?
Nope! You can reach out directly – no doctor’s note needed.
What’s the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?
Counselling is generally shorter-term and focused on specific challenges, while psychotherapy tends to explore deeper patterns over time. I offer both, depending on what you need.
Therapy isn’t just for “big” problems. It’s for anyone navigating life’s ups and downs. Here’s what my clients say:
“I came to Resilience Counselling Network completely broken. I had been bullied at work and left with no job, no self-esteem, I was completely lost. Even the smallest of tasks seemed impossible. Shabnum helped me explore what had really happened, it wasn’t easy but step by step I got my strength back. Now when I see corporate jealousy, I know what it is and can spot it, I wear my emotions less, I look after myself emotionally. I still have pangs of anxiety but nothing like it was. Don’t think twice, if life has given you lemons, and you don’t know which way to turn, get help from Resilience Counselling Network, It works.”
“I was very happy to receive counselling from my therapist. In the first half hour I felt so much of my experience had been validated! She talked about having a point of reference when there is so much chaos around you and it is difficult to make sense of things and relationships! We discussed faith and interpretations of text that are taken out of context to manipulate a situation! She helped bring clarity to this! We talked about managing difficult relationships and how to respond to these challenges, understanding when a relationship can become toxic and unhelpful! I would recommend Resilience Counselling Network. It is confidential and gentle!”
“My counsellor has been amazing and has really helped me to understand my issues. I will recommend the service to anyone who may need something like it”
“I reached out to resilience counselling because I was at an all time low in my life. I had recently need diagnosed with depression which was hard to deal with, had also been involved in a car crash and this made me exceptionally frustrated. I found the counsellor to be very helpful, professional and felt like she was there at any time I needed to make contact. It was reassuring to have somebody at the other end of an email to hear my worries. Thank You so so much.”
“Over the years, I’ve suffered terrible anxiety, the episodes would stem from days to weeks and sometimes months. I decided I needed to do something about ‘it’. After talking to my therapist, she instantly put me at ease, she was professional thorough and immensely knowledgeable. The therapy sessions were over FaceTime, this was personal and worked wonderfully. The hypnotherapy recording was fantastic, not only relaxing, I felt free of anxiety. Thanks to Resilience Counselling Network.”
